Friend, can I ask you three questions.
Okay? Number one, when was the last time you really laughed?
I mean like belly laughed without guilt or worry about what's next. Do you ever catch yourself living in the what if mode instead of the, even if faith mode. Three. Deep down, do you wish you could enjoy your life again instead of feeling stuck, stressed, or striving? If you noodded , yes, this episode is for you because Proverbs 31 verse 25 says, she is clothed with strength and dignity, and she can laugh at the days to come.
That verse isn't describing a woman who has it all together. Nope. It's describing a woman who trusts the one who does. Let me tell you, friend, not long ago I was anything but that woman. I was tired, anxious, inflamed, and constantly running in survival mode. My plate was full with the farm, the bills, the businesses, the family, the grandchildren, and yet my joy was running on empty.
One night sitting on the Kubota. A farm vehicle that we run, errands around on the farm.
Or what I like to do is I like to just go watch, the sunset at night, , in the Kubota and just have a little time with God. But on this particular night, I was actually taking the cows across the road and I just remember just sitting there, whispering, Lord, I just want to enjoy my life again.
Okay? I just wanna enjoy my life again. And I'll never forget the quiet whisper that came back, daughter. You can't enjoy life when you're trying to control it. How many of you are trying to control life instead of letting God control it? Well, that moment shifted everything for me. I realized peace doesn't come from knowing how things will turn out.
It comes from knowing who's already in control of them.
Welcome to Harvest Without the Hustle, the podcast for modern day Proverbs 31 Farm, women, moms, and grandmas. Who are ready to live lives of peace, purpose, and provision without the pressure. I'm your host, Ginny Hatfield, a funny farm wife, grandma, and your modern day Proverbs 31 mentor.
So grab your favorite beverage, your notebook, and a cozy spot friend, because today we are learning how to laugh at the days ahead instead of letting stress steal our joy. . What is strength? Strength is rooted, not rushed. Strength in God isn't about how much we can handle. It's about how much we surrender.
Isaiah 30, verse 15 says In quietness, and trust is your strength. So friend, how do you have strength in God? You build it through daily dependence. You start your morning with him before the world starts talking at you. You keep your Bible open and your heart soft, even, especially on the hard days. You let prayer be your power source, not your last resort.
Strength isn't a feeling friend. It's a foundation. So friend, what takes away your strength in God? Busyness without boundaries, comparison, that robs contentment control. That chokes your peace. These things quietly drain you, leaving you tired, in body and spirit. So friend, what triggers that strength being taken away from you?
Fear, false evidence, appearing real. Fear of not being enough. Fear of not falling behind, fear of what's ahead. But God did not give you a spirit of fear, friend. He gave you power, love, and a sound mind. And we get that from Second Timothy one, seven. So here's a journal prompt for you.
Where have I been running on my own strength instead of resting in his? Here's a stress relief tip for you. Step outside. Take a five minute surrender walk and whisper this. Dear Holy Father, I release what isn't mine to carry, renew my strength today. So what is dignity? Dignity is walking in who you are, not in what you do.
Dignity is a quiet confidence of knowing who you belong to. It's how you carry yourself when life feels messy or misunderstood. How do you not have dignity? When you let guilt, shame, or other people's opinions define you? When you forget your worth and chase approval instead of purpose, what are the signs that you're not walking in dignity over explaining yourself, reacting instead of responding, measuring your value by productivity.
Feeling easily offended or unseen because remember, a woman cloth and dignity doesn't prove her worth. She lives from it. Now, let me ask your friend, what skunk thoughts steal dignity. I'm not enough. I'm too old. I've messed up too much. What I do doesn't matter, friend, those thoughts stink up your spirit.
But dignity reminds you, you are chosen, redeemed, and covered by grace. So here's a journal prompt friend, what lie about my worth have I been believing? And what truth from scripture can I replace it with? And here's a stress relief tip when a skunk thought sneaks in. Don't wrestle with it. Replace it. Say out loud, that's not who I am.
I am God's chosen daughter. Speak truth and tell your emotions. Catch up. So let's talk about joy. What is joy? Joy is the overflow of trust. Nehemiah eight 10 says, the joy of the Lord is your strength. Joy isn't the absence of hard things. It's the assurance that God's goodness is greater than them. But here's something powerful friend.
Joy is also faith under pressure. James one, two through four. Reminds us dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow,
so let it grow for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete needing nothing. So what the heck does that all mean? We can't really know the strength of our character until we see how we react under pressure. It's easy to be kind when life is going along and it feels smooth and everything's just peachy.
But will we still be kind when others treat us unfairly? God doesn't always remove the struggle. He uses it to develop us into whole, mature women of faith. He's not trying to insulate you from pain. He's trying to shape you through it and during, through trials makes you seasoned, grounded, and wise.
It teaches you to see your blind spots, anticipate mistakes, and walk with compassion. So instead of complaining about our struggles, we can choose to see them as opportunities for growth. Ask God for wisdom to handle what's in front of you and for strength to endure what's out of your control. And friend.
Be patient. God will not leave you alone in your problems. He walks beside you in every season. Even the rough ones, especially the rough ones. James doesn't say if troubles come your way, but when they do, he assumes life will bring challenges, but he also promises that those challenges will profit us.
You don't have to pretend to be happy in pain, but you have to have a positive outlook. That's where faith comes in. Knowing God uses hardship to strengthen and mature you. That's why the Proverbs 31 woman could laugh at the days to come because she knew where her strength came from and in whose strength she walked.
Joy Springs from a deep sense of wellbeing that coexists with all emotions, sorrow, anger, pain, and happiness. It's not a denial, it's a decision. Joy is choosing faith over fear. It's trusting that nothing, nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. I remember when, after the milking Parlor fire and I was just stuck. I just could not get, over, where I was, that it just seemed like everything was coming a, after us. , The insurance, , check wasn't coming. And then once we finally got that insurance check, thanks to, who God put in motion for us.
I remember a season when I didn't have much joy in my life. It was right after the milk and parlor fire and. , And I was stuck, , in fear. ' We fought with our insurance, company for close to six weeks and that, and it wasn't until I just totally surrendered that to God and I said, God, I can't do this anymore.
I can't worry about this anymore. I need your help. And , and it was that next day, that's when, , God gave us, someone in our neighborhood that went to fight for us, with the insurance company and it was fast within 24 hours we had results and we had the president of the insurance company, , sitting at our kitchen desk apologizing for what we had gone through with his insurance company.
And then we fought for six weeks with our bank that we were with during that season about rebuilding, because we didn't have enough insurance to totally rebuild our milk and parlor because we weren't insured enough for the cost of what it was going to cost us to, , rebuild.
And so they were not letting us rebuild. And I remember walking through six weeks of prayer, they would tell us we had to jump through one hoop and I would take it to our church and I would ask for specific prayer on that exact thing that we had to jump through the hoop in order to, build. Then, it would come like the next week , we jumped to the hoop.
Prayer would be answered. We jumped to the hoop. We'd get that solved. Then they'd give us another one. This went on for six weeks, but it wasn't until I was feeding the calf down in the barn when, I was just totally done that day. I just, I couldn't do it anymore. And I remembered as I was feeding that bottle to that calf, I remember just telling God, I am so broken now.
I have no joy in my life. I am so tired of all this fighting and all this stress. I said, I'm done. I said, you just take over at this point. I said, 'cause I'm done. , And it was amazing like five minutes later. All of a sudden I had this thought come in my head and I, I know it was God that was talking to me.
He told me, Ginny, daughter, I want you to go up in front of your burned up parlor, and I want you to share this message. I want you to ask Facebook World why your bank won't allow you to build. , Because one of the things that, our, bank had told us was, 'cause we were like $30,000 short on insurance.
In order to build that, we had to find somebody . To loan us 30,000, like how is that ever gonna happen? And that was another night where I was just totally broken joyless and I had to surrender that feeling to the Lord and just ask for help. And within overnight, that prayer got answered and we had somebody in our neighborhood actually loan us $30,000.
So that we could rebuild and then, we thought, wow, this was gonna be the answer. And instead, no, the bank still didn't allow us to rebuild. And that was about like two weeks later when all of a sudden I'm just like, I can't deal with this anymore, Lord.
And that's when I was feeding that calf and I heard him, I heard God say, I want you to go up in front of your burned out parlor. And I want you to say this, why doesn't our bank allow us to rebuild our milking parlor ? Even though we have the insurance check and we have the extra $30,000 to rebuild, can someone please tell me why they won't allow us to do that?
Well, let me tell you, within 24 hours we had an answer and we had the bank begging us to come in and sign papers because God sent not only one person, but two people to fight our battle. So God does that even a modern day, . He will send people in your community to fight your battle. Okay. And they will come out victorious and you will come out victorious.
But first you have to release. You have to release all that hurt, that bitterness in your life and all that, worry and stress and trying to do it all on your own. And you have to just give it over to God because when you do, you will find the power of peace, the power of joy that comes out in you so much that you wanna share this story, you wanna share what's going on in your life with others.
So that they too can have that. And that's why I do this podcast because through the times of that I have walked in business through the times I have walked as being a mom and a grandma and being. And in the times of being a farm wife, I have seen God work so much. And so that's why I wanna share this so that other women can quit living in stress and they can start really.
Just knowing the love that God has for you. He loves you so much as his daughter, so I just wanted to share that. And so here's a journal prompt. Ask yourself, what trial am I facing right now that God might be using to grow my endurance and my faith? Okay, because. I think back to that time, that's when I started my walk with God, my true walk with God.
I wasn't just a, Sunday morning Christian farm, wife and mom. That's when I started asking God. I started praying to God. That's when I started searching for God, and that's what your time in the morning is with God. You start your day with God. You read his Bible, you read his word, and I tell you when you do that, your life will start changing and you'll start having the joy.
And when you start having the joy in your heart, it will come out in your life. You'll show up as a better mom. You'll show up as a better wife. You'll show up as a better business leader because you won't let stress get the best of you. Instead, you'll take it to God and and he'll take it on. Okay. That's what it means by him taking on the yoke.
He'll take it on, he'll show you the path through it. Okay, and then here is, , stress relief tip. Each night, write down three ways you've seen God's hand in your day, even in small ways. Then thank him for walking beside you laughter at the future isn't denial, it's divine trust. When you walk in his strength, when you live in dignity and you persevere with joy, you become a living testimony of peace.
And I have. Okay. People have seen me walk through the trials. Okay. Now did I always handle it the best? No, but you know what? I tell people my testimony of how I was feeling and how I walked through it, and how I came out the better side. I had faith in God because I trusted him enough to have faith.
Okay? I didn't just give up. I took one more step. And that's what you need to do. You can face tomorrow with courage because your clothed in his promises. God never lies. He never goes back on a promise. He tells you that you are a royal, his royal daughter. He tells you that you are his chosen. Okay. And he promises to be there with us, to walk every step with us if we just let him.
So friend, take a deep breath, unclench your hands and laugh at the days ahead because you know what, your God is already there. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to write Proverbs 31 verse 25, some more visible this week. Now what I do is once a week at the beginning of the week, I write down, a scripture and then, I write it down on a little index card, a recipe card, and then I post it, right where like I do my dishes and make my meals.
, So I'm always looking at it at least three to five times a day. And as I do that, I read it, I meditate on it, and then I memorize it by the end of the week. And then what I do is I put it in a recipe card file in the back under different subjects like I have . Scripture is for joy. I have scriptures for strength.
I have scriptures for love. I have scriptures for purpose. And so when I'm feeling like I need like a certain area to really work on, then I can just go to that little recipe box and I can pull out those verses. Plus, in the meanwhile, they're getting, seated down and they're put, and they're getting put into my mindset.
, So here's the Proverbs 31 verse 25. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she can laugh at the days to come the next thing I want you to do is come join me inside, our Harvest Without the Hustle Facebook group, where we are walking this out together, finding peace, purpose, and practical faith in the middle of real life.
So until next time, friend, remember you don't have to hustle for peace. You can rest in his promises and laugh at the days to come knowing he's already there. Have a great week and I'll see you in the Facebook group. Harvest Without the Hustle.
