Hey friend. Welcome back to The Harvest Without the Hustle podcast. I'm your host, Ginny Hatfield, your modern day, Proverbs 31 Farm. Grandma here to help you cultivate a life of faith, health, and purpose without striving or burnout. Today we're diving into a topic that might step on a few toes, including mine.
We're talking about change more specifically, how the small changes we can make over time can completely transform our habits, our homes, our health, and even our businesses. Before we get started, friend, I wanna ask you three questions to get your heart thinking. One, what if the change you're resisting is actually the very thing that could bring you more peace and more connection into your life?
Number two, how do small, consistent changes done faithfully create lasting transformation in your family, your health, and in your business? Number three, and how can we like the Proverbs 31 woman? Let God shape our habits so that our changes glorify him and bless those around us. Friend, if those questions stir something in you, grab your favorite warm beverage, maybe it's some coffee or tea.
Pull out your notebook or open up your notes app on your phone, because today you're going to wanna jot down. Three journal prompts, three daily rhythms to put into practice, and three, stress tips to help you grow through change instead of fighting it. And all of this is backed up with scripture, will help you see change through the eyes of faith.
Now let me start with the story because this one still makes me laugh a little. One morning, not long ago, I came downstairs to find that my son, who's been living with us, had completely rearranged my living room Now friend, this is the same living room that looks the exact same way for 35 years. The couch has been in the same spot.
The TV stand hasn't moved. Everything has always had its place. So when I turned that corner and saw everything different, I about fell over. My first instinct was. What the heck? Put it all back. Friend. I don't like change. I like familiar, predictable, comfortable. But once I sat down with my morning coffee and took a breath, I realized, hmm, the new setup was actually better.
It was more conversational. I could see the TV without strain in my neck, and my husband and I could actually talk across the room without twisting like pretzels. That morning, God whispered something to my heart. Sometimes I rearranged things. Not to frustrate you, but to free you. And Wow did that hit home because I started thinking about how many times I've resisted change in my business or in my habits, or even in my faith walk, just because it felt uncomfortable.
How about you? Have you ever felt that way? When something's uncomfortable, you don't wanna change it. You wanna just stay the same, even though you know in the back of your mind, you're not really growing. That you're not getting any better. You're not getting any healthier with your health. Here's the thing, if we don't allow God to rearrange a few things, we stay stuck in the same place wondering why we're not growing,
But if we don't allow God to rearrange a few things, we stay stuck in the same place, wondering why we're not growing. When we went organic back in 2015, that was a huge change too. It wasn't easy. It meant new ways of farming, new habits, new thinking. But because we embraced that change, we've been able to keep growing and thriving.
Friend, whether it's your living room, your routine, or your mindset, sometimes God has to shake up the familiar to make room for the fruitful.
So friend, let's talk about what the Bible says about change and how we can build small, faithful habits that lead you to a harvest over time. We're going to look at three questions each with a rhythm, a journal prompt, and a stress tip so you can put it into action this week. And don't worry if you can't get all of the rhythms, the journal prompts and the stress tips down.
If you go to my Facebook group, harvest Without the Hustle for Christian Mompreneurs, you'll find the Printable Listener guide there in my Facebook group. And don't worry, the link will be in the show notes below for the Facebook group. So friend, question one. What small change can I make today that aligns my life more closely with God's truth?
Here's the scripture to back it up. Romans 12:2. Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by renewing of your friend, real change starts from the inside out. Before you try to change your schedule or your habits, ask God to change your thinking in atomic habits. James Clear says you don't rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems. That means your daily rhythms matter more than your big dreams.
The Proverbs 31 woman understood that she rose early, planned her day, and worked diligently with purpose, not pressure. So the rhythm to put into action is start your morning with a 10 minute faith reset. Before you check your phone or email, open your Bible or devotional and whisper. Lord, renew my mind and set my pace for today.
Here's your journal prompt. What small mind shift can I make today to invite more of God's peace into my home or business? And here's your stress tip. Breathe. Before you begin, take three slow breaths and say peace. Be still. This helps calm your nervous system and remind your spirit that God is in control. Question number two, what habits am I clinging to that are keeping me from growth? Scripture John 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit while every branch that does bear fruit.
He prunes so that it will even be more fruitful. Have you ever noticed in the spring when you, . Prune down your plants.
How all of a sudden, , they look like they're half dead at that point, , because you really like prune 'em off and cut all the dead spots off and everything. But then about . A couple days later, all of a sudden you start seeing them green up, you start seeing them grow out more. And , within a couple weeks, all of a sudden you're seeing this plant just take off.
Because that's what happens with us. Okay? We need to get the dead stuff out of our minds. The dead habits that are just sitting there, when we are stuck and when we're in that uncomfortable zone, when we're listening to those skunk thoughts, you know those lies from the enemy.
I'm not good enough. I don't think I can do this. Those kind of thoughts, and we replace them with a scripture that says, I know I'm chosen. I know who I am. Okay. When you replace a skunk thought with a God thought, which is scripture, then all of a sudden. You can start growing because sometimes we hang on to habits that make us feel safe, but actually keep us stuck.
Maybe it's overworking, maybe it's people pleasing. Or saying yes when you really need rest. How many of you friends, have you ever said yes because to something that you didn't really wanna do, but because of the person that was asking you, you didn't wanna let them down, or you didn't want them to think, oh, she can't do that.
Okay. When you know what your boundaries are and you know exactly. Okay, this is what I am doing. When you have your day planned and you have your week planned, and you have your goal set. And then you'll know exactly what needs to get done every day, and that's what the Proverbs 31 woman did.
She knew exactly every day when she got up exactly what she had to get done for the day. And she didn't do it on her own? No. She delegated. If she knew that wasn't something that she could do as well as someone else, then she delegated that job to somebody else. And that's something that we can learn from that too, , because the Proverbs 31 woman didn't fear pruning.
She examined her days planned wisely, and worked from peace, not panic. In atomic habits, there's a concept called habit stacking. You attach a new good habit to one you already do. For example, if you drink coffee every morning, say a short prayer of gratitude when it brews.
Instead of scrolling on Facebook at night, take that time and, get your planner out , and plan out your day, plan your day out for the next day, and while you're doing it, also write down one thing you're grateful for. Here's the rhythm to put into action each evening.
Reflect on your day. Ask what drained me and what gave me peace. Then give both to God in prayer before you go to bed. And here's your journal prompt. What old routines are thought patterns? Might God be asking me to release this week? And here's your stress tip before bed.
Instead of scrolling, take a 10 minute walk or stretch and thank God for three blessings from your day. Gratitude turns stress into rest. Question three, how can I invite God into my habits? So my change brings him glory? Here's scripture.
Proverbs 31:25 we talked about this last week. She is clothed with strength and dignity. She can laugh at the days to come. The Proverbs 31 woman didn't separate her faith from her work. Her faith fueled her work. Her habits became her worship. James Clear says, in Atomic Habits, every action you take is a vote for the person you wish to become.
As Christian women, every faithful choice we make is a vote for the woman God has called us to be. So here's a rhythm to put into action. Before you start each morning, write down your top three priorities and pray. Lord, help me do this with peace, not pressure.
Journal prompt. Where can I invite God to be more involved in my daily habits, decisions, or routines this week? Stress tip, when you fall short, don't spiral into guilt. Whisper, I'm being refined, not defined, and do the next right thing.
Friend change doesn't have to be scary. Sometimes it's just God rearranging things. So you can see life from a better angle. Small, steady faith field changes done with grace and consistency lead to a harvest that glorifies him.
So this week, take a look at your living rooms. The places you've kept the same for years. Ask God, is it time to change here Lord? And then be willing to see the beauty he's arranging behind the scenes.
